Earlier this week, TI introduced its OMAP 5 quad-core platform for mobile multimedia devices. It has four on-chip ARM processor cores, two ARM Cortex-A15 application processors—capable of running at 2GHz each if needed—and two ARM Cortex-M4 cores to handle real-time and interrupt-driven tasks. What do you do with all of that processing power? Well, you can build some really cool user interfaces like the ones Tom Cruise used in the 2002 movie “Minority Report.” (Was it really that long ago?)
In fact, TI has made a video demonstrating some of these user interface innovations. Here it is:
Wow, now there is a brilliant marketing exercise. It demonstrates real-life uses for all this technology we have lying around! Okay, so it is all very commercialised and plays on our human greeds, but hey, why else do we live in the west??
