Friday Video: Remember the gesture-controlled displays Tom Cruise used in Minority Report? Now they’re real.

Here’s a video from Oblong Industries in Los Angeles demonstrating the gesture-controlled g-speak user interface and display system it’s developing. If the setup looks familiar, like the one you saw Tom Cruise using in the 2002 movie “Minority Report,” that’s because Oblong’s co-founder John Underkoffler was the science advisor on the film, built much of what we saw in the movie from his work at MIT, and is now commercializing the ideas at Oblong. Los Angeles is probably a good place for all of this to happen.
