It’s a new wave of social networking. Two marines, one male and one female, have employed YouTube to ask two movie stars, one female and one male, for a date to the Marine Corps Ball in November. First, Sergeant Scott Moore asked actress Mila Kunis (Friends with Benefits, Black Swan, Family Guy) for a date by making a video in Afghanistan and posting it on YouTube. Then Corporal Kelsey De Santis, the only female at the Martial Arts Center for Excellence at Marine Corps Base Quantico, made a YouTube video inviting “Friends with Benefits” co-star and Kunis’ former squeeze Justin Timberlake to be her date for the Ball.
I sense a trend here. Sure, you may not look as hunky or carry as much ammo on your body during work hours as Sergeant Moore or be as supremely confident as Corporal De Santis, but you’ve got video chops, right? You can make YouTube and social media dance to your tune, right? Jump on the bandwagon and turn this whole engineering dating thing around.
Here’s the video that got Sergeant Moore a date with Kunis:
Here’s Corporal De Santis’ message to Timberlake:
What are you waiting for, maggots?
A note to Sergeant Moore and Corporal De Santis: Thank you for your service and for going far beyond the call of duty.
