Amazing Friday Video: Xilinx GTZ SerDes transceivers pump 26Gbps/channel through Luxtera silicon photonics module

Setup for this video is pretty complicated so bear with me. The following video shows a Xilinx test chip with “7 Series GTX” transceivers pumping 26Gbps data over four channels through a stand-alone Luxtera “silicon optics” multichannel transceiver module. The net throughput is more than 100Gbps being pumped through the four combined optical channels with a communications eye that’s going to be the envy of every communications engineer on the planet.

Where’s the FPGA? There isn’t one. Yet.

    Steve, FYI, the Luxtera stuff is all SOI-based photonics. We’ve been covering them at Advanced Substrate News for 7 years now!
