Friday Video: Coming this August, Mars touchdown. Right Now: Dramatic visualization of the touchdown

NASA’s new video calls it “7 minutes of terror.” It’s the seven minutes needed to enter Mars’ atmosphere, aerobrake, parachute, and then hover using rocket thrusters while lowering the Curiosity rover to the surface of Mars using “the skycrane maneuver.” All accompanied to music that sounds like it was borrowed from Lucasfilm. NASA, we didn’t know you had it in you.

Compelling video to hold you until the real landing this August 5.
