Earlier this week, Micron announced volume production of a combined phase-change memory (PCM) and an LPDDR2 SDRAM in one package. Here’s a video Micron demo of one of the end-product advantages of such a memory over NOR or NAND Flash memories, which must be block-erased before being rewritten. Quite simply, the advantage is speed.
